Char McGaughy
A painter who tattoos
Char is a Dallas tattoo and mixed media artist who has tattooed professionally for 16 years. She paints in oil and works in leather, and that eye shows up on skin: smooth black and grey gradients, color that heals bright and confident brush strokes in her trash polka.
She opened Gold Dust Tattoos & Fine Art in 2013. Today she books under her own name, by appointment and fully custom.

Fully custom, every time
Char does not tattoo flash or copy other people’s tattoos. Every piece is drawn for the person wearing it, sized to the placement and built from the references and ideas you bring.
What she tattoos
- Black and grey realism: portraits, animals, skulls, horror and full sleeves
- Color realism: wildlife, florals, fruit, birds and pop-culture pieces
- Fine line: delicate linework, script, botanicals and small detailed pieces
- Trash polka: realism collaged with bold black and red graphic work
Clients travel from across Dallas–Fort Worth and out of state for her work, and she takes regular guest spots in Denver, Colorado.
